Why Sell Your Records?

We are at a unique time in record collecting history.

Vinyl sales are at their highest now since they were replaced by CDs in the late 80s/early 90s.

We believe the reason for this increase in sales is two-fold:

1.       The younger generations (Millennials and Generation Z) are tired of consuming music through an algorithm they are fed on digital streaming platforms like Spotify or Apple Music. They want to connect with music in a more active and meaningful way. Having an object that you can touch, hold, smell, listen to and keep makes for a better experience and they are now figuring that out.

2.       The Baby-Boomer generation were the biggest consumers of vinyl while it was the main format for commercial distribution of music. Most of the Boomers traded in their vinyl collections for CDs when they were phased out, then gave up the CDs for digital streaming years later. Just like the younger generations the boomers are tired of streaming and miss the days when you could take a record off the shelf and listen to it. They are now re-discovering vinyl and are buying back their old favorite albums.

The combination of these three generations taking up and getting back into vinyl makes records more valuable now than they ever were or probably ever will be!
